After finishing my Assessment 2, with all the research and concepts I began by drawing up some storyboards that would usually highlight some user scenarios that can help me find out their true goals.

The first storyboard is Susie is fearing her pet is overweight. His name is patches and the last month Susie has had to adjust patches collar size 3 times, so it fits. Susie has also noticed patches is becoming very lazy not wanting to go for walks and is constantly begging for food.

The second storyboard is John isn’t home enough for his pet. He isn’t taking his dog on walks enough, so it is becoming overweight. This is affecting both his dog and his own’s health.

After the storyboarding, I went over my user goals from my research and reflected on these for the prototype.

The user goals are

- To find an appropriate diet for their pet

- To find appropriate ways for their pets to exercise

- To find more time to spend with their pet

- To find ways to adopt a pet

After the user goals, I began sketching out the final wireframes just so it would be easier to prototype them while already having the visuals sketched out. The prototyping took a fair bit of time, with lots of minimal mistakes to touch up on as having to change the colour palette by only adding the green when it was needed for attention, while the blue was to just give it a nice compliment. The user testing helped a lot, making me realise some things to touch up on as many user testers found that the hit markers were too small so adding them in allowed better accessibility for the users. Some of the follow up questions were really simple, such as how the hit markers were, how do you find the colour palette, any clear issues that catch your eye, how do you find the transitions, are all the buttons working, and a few other questions.

The A/B split test helped out a lot, finding out the preferred designs and layout. It allowed me to see which design seemed more cohesive, and the colour palette used in different ways allowed the users to truly grasp the designs of both the A side and the B side. Overall, all the users picked the A side, as they all said it looked more appealing to the eye and it allowed each element on the page to shine in their own way, while the B side was described as too crowded and disruptive to the eye. (The A side is the left side while the right side is the B side).

Overall, I thoroughly enjoyed this assignment, it allowed me to display my UX design skills, while also highlighting all that was needed in the brief. The RSPCA Pet Care app was built around the concept of an app that allowed the user to find information for their pet’s health and wellbeing, while also being linked to the RSPCA and allowing them to adopt a pet within the same app. I believe the RSPCA app displayed these requirements in a clear and concise manner, while also having a complimentary design to go along with it.
